Angel Falls
Angel Falls, the world’s tallest waterfall, begins its descent from the top of the Auyan-tepui. The falls named for Jimmy Angel, an American pilot who landed on top of the mountain, reach 3,212 feet ( 979m ) to the ground below and feed into Caroni River. More than a hundred tepuis—a Pemón Indian word for mountains—rise mainly in southeastern Venezuela; fewer than half have been explored. Photo via salto-angel.com
